Techcrunch 40 Coverage Update and a Tip
Several CN readers have asked me about Techcrunch40 coverage. Many of the presenters have contacted me (and I am sure all of the other press) about coverage of their startup. Some have sent over notes, I have gone through demos with others, and some have done neither. There is a ultra-strict embargo which states, "We reserve the right to pull any presenting company that does not comply with these policies." So coverage will begin on Monday morning as each company presents their demo. They have setup a special press area including a separate wi-fi (which I don’t have high hopes for from past conferences) so I should be able to post live.
From the looks of the press list, there are going to be over 50 press attendees and should provide great rounded-opinions. The list reads as a whos-who of tech blogging.
Here is my tip: If you are planning to launch your startup this week and are not part of TC40, I would strongely suggest you hold off at least until the end of the week. With a good percentage of the major new web tech bloggers covering the startups here, you might not get the buzz you want. Take the week to test, test, test.

Allen, how about you add them to the website and hit the publish button once they have presented (you could do it via a mobile even).
Have fun.
Hi Darren and thanks for your idea. Thing is – so far I have only heard from 6 of the 139 companies presenting or in the demo area.
I do wonder how many of the other press/bloggers are thinking of this as the olympics and want to be first with every demo :)
Huh Andrew? Why would you say that? I disagree with your statement.
and if you are launching this week and didn’t make the TC40 cut you probably shouldn’t launch at all.
Thanks Brian – lookin’ forward to meeting you as well. Should be a great two days of meeting many of the people who read and comment on cn! I hope I can remember all the names :)
Hey Allen, I’ll be there too. Looking forward to meeting you! Oh, and great advice for startups btw!
