TechCrunch Relaunches UK Blog - Butcher Back as Editor
Mike Arrington has announced the relaunch of the UK version of TechCrunch. Mike Butcher is now the editor, he was formerly the co-editor with Sam Sethi (now the head of BlogNation). Congrats to Mike² on the re-launch.
Some people have commented on TC and to me via IM regarding the announcement that they find it a bit odd that Mike B would come back given all the hoopla/drama that surrounded the TC closure last December. It looks like the post has been removed from the UK site, but there appeared to be a large number of UK loyals mad at the entire situation. Butcher posted his side of the story and I can only guess that Butcher made certain editorial and monetary demands this time around. Arrington did note that he was "sorry to see" Butcher get caught up in the mess. In my opinion, so much of the mess could have been avoided if the disagreement was taken offline.
One thing I have learned so far in the blogosphere is that readers seem to have short memories. I have not come to a conclusion whether or not this is a good thing, but it is the way it works I guess. It will be interesting to see if the UK loyals return to the site or if they have moved on to other UK blogs (like UK BlogNation and PaidContent UK).
The key with any blog is that it's a conversation. Just as important as I am writing to you, is you commenting (in any fashion) back to me. It's not a newspaper that you read, and toss.

I don't think it's so much the short memory factor, but more like the information overload/overkill factor. So much has transpired not only in the TechCrunch world since the UK site went under, but just the entire blogosphere/tech world in general.
Yes, while - Technically Speaking - I'm on "vacation" - I don't even want to see what I've been missing this past week. I'm sure many have received millions, companies have gone under, and new companies have launched. So much happens, that in the end, the whole debacle that you speak of in your post - most casual observers have already forgotten.
I've done some browsing around as time permits, but for the most part, my usual feed reading tool has remained "offline" this week.

I think alot of people have moved onto Blognation now as it covers the world. Blognation has a lot more startup news than techcrunch does.
I will add techcruch uk feed back now its up again. They will still have decent coverage and Mike Buchers stuff was always spot on.
Thanks for the kind words Allen, appreciated.
