There is a service called Spottt which does this:

http://www.spottt.com/

It's powered by AdBrite but you don't have control over which other blogs are promoted/promote you which can be problematic.

Those ads are from the self-service platform called Technorati Engage. This platform is designed to help long-tail bloggers monetize their site and offer 125x125 ad units.

With Technorati Media they are currently running 2 different ad networks, Technorati Engage and a private CPM network. I have heard that the CPM network has some good campaigns, but the campaigns are limited. Technorati Engage is just a complete waste of time. Engage was an acquistion of AdEngage which never really made an impression on the advertising market, in other words it never worked!

Allen, your idea about cross promoting other blogs is a great idea. Drop me an email if you would like to cross promote with Crenk!

It seems to me they lost control of their Remnant advertising, and this little bug is transitioning into a large beast. Concern they will face if they do nothing is losing publishers who are feed up with losing 25 lbs, and can get better deals elsewhere. There's no doubt the marketplace is hard with more people going online to view ads, and low demand "ad sales". As far as their strategy if they did not plan for this they are in trouble and thinking should be geared towards the long term.
