Temporary Design Technologist

Role and Responsibilities:

Reuters is seeking an Interactive Design Technologist contractor for the Reuters Media Design team, which is responsible for the design, information architecture, user experience, and front-end design of the global Reuters.com news websites.

The Interactive Design Technologist will leverage design and development skills in a fast-paced, news-centric environment. The role will focus on building and maintaining the Reuters.com front-end experience – the pages, modules, stylesheets, scripts, and templates that drive the Reuters global news sites.

Qualifications
Required Skills, Knowledge and Education:
The ideal candidate is a talented front-end developer with good design sensibilities, capable of adapting quickly to provide creative solutions. Good communication skills are a must, as the role involves significant interaction within a multi-faceted, cross-functional group of business, marketing, editorial, design, and development team members.

– Strong HTML and CSS skills
– Strong Javascript/dHTML skills
– Strong general scripting skills – JSP, ASP
– Good communication skills
– Good Flash/Actionscript skills
– Experience with Java Server Pages/JSTL
– Experience with Content Management Systems
– Experience with XML/RSS
– Basic Photoshop skills
– Familiarity with News/Media environments
– Familiarity with interface/information design
