Top 5 Most Dugg Blogs Ever

DiggA report out today by Glen Allsopp at Clickalite shows the number of times that the Technorati Top 100 blogs that have been dugg since Digg began.

Glen says, "The top 5 blogs make up 45% of the 8,000 times 79 blogs on the Technorati Top 100 Blogs have hit the Digg Homepage.

The top 5 are:

  1. Ars Technica; ~1350
  2. Engadget; ~ 1016
  3. TechCrunch; ~ 533
  4. Think Progress; ~ 405
  5. Huffington Post; ~ 345

It's well known that Ars Technica is the most dugg, but I was surprised not to see Gizmodo in the top 5. Remember that Technorati ranks blogs by number of inbound links but these blogs are also some of the most visited as well, so it makes sense that they are the most Dugg. Most eyes = more diggs = more chance of a homepage digg.

It's interesting that TechCrunch Mike doesn't care much about Digg traffic considering he is the 3rd most dugg blog with his comment from earlier in the year, "no, we don’t care that much about digg traffic actually. it’s far less than 10% of our total traffic."  I can only imagine how awesome it must be to run a blog where Digg doesn't matter, maybe one day CN will be there!

So the Technorati Top 100 blogs account for over 8000 total frontpage diggs! As an analytics freak, I would love to see a traffic breakdown of the Technorati Top 100 w/Digg and w/o Digg. Would be an interesting comparison. For example, what would Ars Technica look like sans Digg? Same with YouTube.

I’m with you on the analytics freak thing, I would love to see some more stats on this aswell. Hopefully the automatic script with some better details will be up tomorrow (a commentor on my blog offered to create the script)

Thanks for the link and I wish you much success with this site; I see some nice traffic in my Alexa plugin and hope it represents the real thing :)

    Cheers,
