Transmutable Announces Immediate Release of Online Event Hall Rental
"Tomorrow Space" project offers web access to social 3D spaces which support users’ current web applications
SEATTLE, Washington, March 5, 2008 – Transmutable today announced the launch of Tomorrow Space, the premier application bridging the ease and speed of the web with the rich community of virtual worlds. Unlike products which require people to download and install a huge application, then spend 45 minutes on "orientation island", Tomorrow Space is immediately accessible via Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari web browsers.
"As more applications move off of the desktop and onto the web it’s only natural that shared 3D spaces do the same," said Transmutable Co-founder and CEO Trevor F. Smith, a longtime supporter of open web platforms for online spaces. "What’s interesting, though, is that the successes of the world-as-canvas services have shown us that there are extremely valuable uses for game technologies repurposed for business and social networking. We’re now bringing that value to the web."
For years, companies and individuals who see the value of online spaces have attempted to use large, unwieldy game services which required a substantial IT cost in terms of installation, weekly upgrades, and hours of downtime during scheduled maintenance. Because the focus of these services is on play and free style construction, businesses are forced to build their spaces from scratch using proprietary tools or recruit consultants from small pools of early adopters. "Because we’re using standard web tools and development patterns our customers enjoy the savings derived from the large market of web developers," says Smith, "and they can easily integrate their existing web applications like YouTube and Amazon Associates with Tomorrow Space event halls."
Event organizers who use Tomorrow Space event halls can immediately open the door to attendees (no construction or consultants required) or customize the halls by uploading images, rearranging the furniture, or adding links to their blogs, social network profiles or other web applications. Events can be limited to a secure guest list or open to the public, in which case attendees aren’t required to sign up or provide personal information. Organizers can simply email the URL to the event or link to it from their web sites.
