My company has been crawling Twitter for some time collecting data and we’re looking at ways to parse it into useful services. We’ve looked at hashtags as one way of quickly looking for conversations but realize there’s more we can do. Hopefully within a couple of months we’ll have something useful for you to play with.

I think hashtags offer a wonderful opportunity to track many individuals’ reaction to a common event or topic: I first noticed them when I saw a slew of #SXSW references, and since have used them for topics ranging from #RedSox to #Obama. If they catch on, I suspect they could provide valuable insights into group behavior.
