No Twitter For a Week? YES WE CAN!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve had enough of Twitter for a while. So I have created a ‘NO TWITTER" zone around these parts through next week.
I don’t care if Twitter gets acquired, a new application comes out that allows Twitter to cure diseases, if certain people stop talking about themselves 24 hours a day, if Natalie Gulbis starts to follow me, if Scoble finally gets to Vegas, if Gary Vaynerchuk tells me that the Jets are going to win in 2010, if certain people stop spreading BS q&a for traffic or if Twitter stops a war, you won’t see it here.
We did this last year with Facebook and it worked well so now we will do it again with Twitter. It’s time to focus even more on applications that generate real revenue, create real time savings, more utility, etc. There are plenty of other tech blogs where you can read Twitter news on if you need your fix.

I especially like this: “It’s time to focus even more on applications that generate real revenue, create real time savings, more utility, etc.”
That’s what I look for in blogs.
Thanks!
Could not agree more.
Too many self-inflating posts about Scoble or Guy or Gary.
Philosophical diatribes won’t help you succeed in the trenches. Vague predictions about “new media” or “social marketing” aren’t going to put food on the table.
Get out there and do and the share TACTICS.
Thanks!
love it! love it!
Very cool Allen – I can always go over to TwitterCrunch to get a fix if I need it
I’ve felt this way lately but I thought it was just the bloom off the rose after 9 months of heavy duty Twitter use. I’m feeling a little burned out but it could just be the turnover in relationships as people come & go from social networks. It sometimes feels like I’m constantly in a waiting room, greeting new people. It’s not them, it’s ME!
Good thinking Allen, its enough with the whole Twittermania thingy..its going out of control.
dig it. I just installed a new twitter app. or should I say I just installed it 2 hrs ago. I just got done reading tweets. someone wrote: busy != productive.

A bit of removal from a service is not a bad thing. However, I like how the previous post is twitter related. :)
the previous posts are twitter-related because that was the topic last night at the nyc tech meetup – otherwise i would have started this on monday – i felt like i had to wait to support nyc technology
what if twitter STARTS a war?? :)
nope :)
@nathan Ha, good one. Going to post busy != productive on facebook now.
@liz – I feel the same way, and I’ve only been using Twitter for 1+ month. But I think you can prevent burnout if you focus on using it for say 1-2 hours a day, and keep in mind what your goals for using Twitter are, whether it’s to build new friendships or business contacts, or keep in touch with local happenings.
Yes, Allen Stern. YES WE CAN!!
oh my goodness – mona stopped over at cn! woo! made my day!
