User Experience Designer
The Microsoft Live Labs user experience team is seeking a User Experience Designer with applied industry experience in conceptualizing, exploring, prototyping and delivering new, novel and cutting-edge internet experiences.
Microsoft Live Labs is a growing team of world class scientists, engineers and designers who are taking the lead in exploring the intersection of science and technology to conceive and deliver new internet product concepts and user experiences. Our work focuses on the areas of; search, advertising, online communities and multi-media. Our goal is to thoughtfully explore and share new ideas and concepts in a public forum with a clear roadmap to a final product. Our work evolves rapidly and shaped through a dialog with the online community. Live Labs has offices in downtown Bellevue and Seattle.
This is a unique opportunity to reinvent the internet experience. Candidates are expected to demonstrate applied experience in designing compelling solutions for rich client or web applications. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in designing and delivering consumer-oriented products that directly address a product’s desirability or emotional engagement.
Specific responsibilities of this role include;
- understand new technologies and identify the product opportunities they present,
- craft user experience goals, scenarios, storyboards, information architectures, features and interfaces,
- collaborate closely with scientists, engineers and fellow designers to evaluate and iterate on ideas and designs,
- express concepts though high-fidelity storyboards, illustrations and prototypes,
- detail final designs to facilitate implementation or hand-off, addressing all user experience-related issues blocking implementation,
- managing multiple projects, prioritizing and planning deliverables,
A four year degree in Industrial-, Visual-, Interaction- or Interactive-Media Design, or related field is expected. 3-5 years of industry experience developing rich client or web applications is expected. Solid communications and presentations skills are expected. Expert level knowledge of design, illustration and prototyping tools is expected. JavaScript, DHTML, AJAX or C# development is an asset.
