User Experience – Interaction Designer
The Barbarian Group is looking a for a User Experience / Interaction Designer with at least 3 years of experience working on the web. Contract and full time positions are available. The ideal designer would…
Have experienced applying user centered design methodologies to web based projects.
Create totally rockin’ wireframes, storyboards/scenarios, flows, and other paper goodies.
Be comfortable pairing iterative interaction design with an agile development / prototyping environment.
Have a deep understand of the social web, designing for community, the social graph and the challenges that come with that territory.
Be absolutely on top of emerging design patterns and UI best practices for web based apps/services.
Have a good sense of what is possible these days with javascript, CSS, html, AJAX etc.
Be willing to accept a bit of web based marketing/advertising into their life without feeling like the walls are closing in and/or becoming painfully envious of the cool new startup their friends just got funded :-)
The project at hand is still in the “secret sauce” phase so all the details cannot be revealed. I can say that it is related to the music business and involves creating a toolset for an audience with very specific needs. The app has components of data visualization, dashboard design, content management/publishing, community, trend tracking, social graph “leveraging,” data portability(!?!) and last but not least WIDGETS. No, seriously…
The audience for the app is niche and focused enough to put some weight behind them. Rest assured this is not another destination site or social network. Positions are available in the San Francisco, NYC, and Boston offices.
