VentureBeat Has Exclusive on VentureBeat Venture Capital Raise

VentureBeatSilicon Valley-based VentureBeat has announced a seed round of financing in the amount of $320,000.  Matt notes the following regarding who participated in the funding, "The angel investors include Georges Harik, a very early employee at Google and manager of several of its early products; Aydin Senkut, another early Google employee who is now running a small angel fund called Felicis Ventures; Mike Brown, an investor at Foundation Capital, but who invested on his own accord; Philippe Cases, an investor specialized in open source; MHS Capital; Amidzad; and Elliott Donnelly’s White Sand Group among others."

Matt says that the company has been in the black since it started and as revenue increased, he increased writers. Traffic also continues to increase on the site.

I enjoy reading VentureBeat and look forward to seeing what they can do to expand their presence with the funding. Congrats to founder and editor Matt Marshall and the VentureBeat team including new writer Dean Takahashi.

Hey Matt - if you are looking to expand and now that you have some funds, you might consider acquiring a NYC-based blog. From what I hear, you can have it for $319,000. Comes with a free dozen hot H&H bagels and a square knish.
