Verizon: Can you see me now?
After announcing last week that YouTube will start offering videos through its V Cast service, Verizon is announcing today that they have signed another deal with Revver.
From MediaPost:
Revver will offer new clips each week from categories including "viral video classics," "extreme sports," "laughs," "animation," "cute overdose" and "editor's picks."
So I guess the man who normally asks, "Can you hear me now", will have a new line, "Can you see me now?"
To use both YouTube and Revver on the V Cast service, there is a monthly charge for V Cast of $15/month. This is a huge barrier to entry. If I am currently paying $39 a month for service, that is nearly a 40% jump in my monthly cost. And only "select" videos will be available. Give me full access, maybe it is worth $15. Select access should be at no charge. Call it a value-added feature.
And for the Revver deal, who will select the clips from each category? Will it be Revver, Verizon or the fans?
