Video: Bottletalk Review — it’s Wine 2.0
by Allen Stern on February 16th, 2007
I had a chance to take a look at a new social network around wine. Bottletalk allows you to add wines you have drank and rate them. You can also rate, tag and comment on any wine. Setup friends and see what they like and don't like. It's a simple site but really has some nice Web 2.0 style features. The only thing that I would like to see changed is the way they use Google AdSense search links on the wine pages. Why not partner with wine sellers instead and offer a user a way to purchase the wine directly rather than going to some non-related Google search results page?

Thanks Allen for the great review and instructional video, I’ve blogged this on our Bottletalk blog at http://blog.bottletalk.com
Cheers,
Emma at Bottletalk
Hi, Allen.
I’m sure the BottleTalk guys will team up with some wine retailers eventually. There are some good sites out there that offer affiliate deals for buying wine like WineZap.com, Wine.Triggit.com, and Wine-Searcher.com.
We used a mixture of these services for our “buy links” at http://www.winelog.net. (a competitor you and your viewers might be interested to check out as well)
Unless they have another business model that would conflict with these links, I’d expect them to be working on integrating them now.
