Vimeo just deleted all of my videos without warning or specific explanation. Once I wrote back to them asking for explanations they have provided none. I have an account there since 4 years with lots of good videos, just like I do on all major video sharing sites. It is really a shame that Vimeo did this. I invite you to share this news with others.

I’ve been using Vimeo, never heard of Viddler. So this is the first time. Maybe I would give it a go.

The only reason I use Viddler instead of just embedding my own h.264 video on my web site (in my opinion, better quality and a better player experience through QuickTime) is for the awesome community stuff they’ve built in. The ability to add timed tags and comments, and even video comments at specific points in the video really makes it a different experience from everything else I’ve seen. And right now they’re still at the point where a new person can jump in with a funny or interesting video and get featured right on their front page. How cool is that?

If you’re over 30, viddler is awesome. Under 25, vimeo has the hipness. Both have reason to keep on keeping on in the youtube era.

I disagree with your comment about the Vimeo player being boring. I just recently discovered Vimeo and am in love with the no distractions player. Finally we have a web player that doesn’t have a bunch of crap around it. It gives you the title, and the basic buttons for video playback allowing the video content to get the users full attention and the player to get the heck out of the way.
