I was pretty peeved when I selected my $25 SFO-->Vegas and $35 Vegas-->SFO fares, only to find that in the end, the companion ticket wasn't completely free. It ended up being a total of $160. Virgin America gave me a the $25/$35 free, but tacked on $50 each person in extra taxes/fees. Total savings to fly roundtrip from SF to Vegas: 27%. NOT 50%! Anyone else have a similar experience? Was anyone actually able to get a completely FREE companion ticket?
