JibJab Media is a leading producer of branded, online entertainment. In 2004, the company’s political video, ‘This Land’, sparked a global phenomenon that transformed JibJab into a household brand. In 2007, the company entered the $3 billion+ digital social expressions market with ‘Starring You!’, a product that enables users to put themselves and friends into JibJab videos. Funded by Polaris Venture Partners, the company has 32 employees and 122 artists in its extended creative network. Together, they’ve premiered 11 videos on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’, served 48 million visitors at their website in the past 12 months, built a hard core fan base of 1.8 million members and attracted major brand sponsors like Pepsi and Anheuser-Busch. A hundred years ago, industrious entrepreneurs reinvented the entertainment industry with cameras and film. Today, JibJab is doing it with computers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The VP, Finance will be responsible for:
- Day-to-day accounting and corporate matters;
- Budgeting at both corporate and departmental levels;
- Building models that offer valuable financial and strategic insights to the CEO and the Board;
- Architecting and implementing a financial system/process to manage a large number of profit participants, from talent and licensees to other third-party stakeholders;
- Building a contract management system and process that can handle a large number of talent, licensing, and distribution agreements;
- Managing the company’s, banking, lending and leasing relationships;
- Integrating ad network, web analytic and financial data in a way that generates keen business insights;
- Handling financial negotiations with our vendors;
- Making sure clients pay us on time;
- Making sure we pay vendors on time (which is the 90 days you negotiated in their contract);
- Instituting and managing employee expense policies; and
- Being cool enough that people still want to have a beer with you, despite the fact that you keep bugging them about their expense reports!

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
- You are a quant jock of epic proportions; (Numbers excite you. You can’t help it!)
- You are an energetic, entrepreneurial self starter and creative problem solver;
- You’re a workhorse who rolls up his/her sleeves to get a job done;
- You don’t need to have a CPA, but you must be able to talk circles around most of them when it comes to complex financial matters;
- You bring the highest levels of honesty and integrity to your work;
- You treat people at all levels of the organization with dignity and respect;
- You can say the tough things that need to be said in a way that people still like you;
- You recognize that everyone has to win in a negotiation (JibJab just has to win a little more);
- You double and triple check your work so your numbers are NEVER wrong;
- You love being in the “arena” of a start-up; and
- You know how to laugh (we’re a comedy company for cryin’ out loud!)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years of senior finance and accounting experience;
- Director or VP-level executive experience;
- Experience fund raising and working with venture capital investors a plus;
- Experience working with royalty and profit participation systems a plus; and
- Masters Degree preferred, Bachelors degree required.
