The bottom line is that when you're dealing with human emotions, intelligent people can make bad decisions just as frequently as less-than-intelligent people. Most of the rules above deal in some way with emotional flaws - not business flaws. Maggie: there are a lot of wannabe entrepreneurs with no real business skills starting Internet companies today but there are also a lot of skilled and experienced entrepreneurs who make mistakes addressed by the rules above – just as there are a lot of extremely intelligent people who lose money year after year in the financial markets.

The bottom line is that when you’re dealing with human emotions, intelligent people can make bad decisions just as frequently as less-than-intelligent people.
