Web Designer
The 92nd Street Y cultural and community center on the upper east side of Manhattan is currently searching for a new full time Web Designer. Reporting to the Web Director in the Web department, the position requires an ability to work quickly and efficiently on a broad range of web design from simple predefined title, link and icon graphics to online cross-promotional Flash. This position requires strong Flash and information architecture skills.
Position Accountabilities
• Design typography, web icons, rollover graphics, cross-sell graphics, photo collages, animated and static ads and online tours required to maintain and enhance the 92nd Street Y and 92YTribeca web presence.
• Create online advertising for external websites
• Research, scan, photograph create and optimize photography and graphics for the internet
• Maintain database and filing system for projects and images used online
• Work with the other 92Y web staff to keep all web graphics and content up-to-date
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
Position Qualifications Requirements:
• Two to three years minimum experience in a fast paced graphic and web production environment
• Excellent graphic ability and a portfolio demonstrating these skills
• Meticulous attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, tact and diplomacy to deal with a variety of internal and external colleagues, clients and vendors.
• Must have extensive knowledge of Quark, PhotoShop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Illustrator and Flash
• HTML/XML experience an asset
• BFA in web design or equivalent.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, with a 1-hour meal break. Monday-Friday, 9 am to 6 pm. Some flexibility in scheduling is required to accommodate varying production schedules
