Web Designer

As a designer at pronto.com, you will work with a team of product managers, designers and developers to design and define a world class online shopping experience. This is a hands-on, creative position in a fast paced, ambitious environment. We are looking for highly creative people who are passionate about design and shopping.

Daily responsibilities will include:
– translating wireframes created by product managers/interaction designers into visual designs
– working with various business owners to design and deliver Web and print marketing materials
– collaborating with front end developers to ensure designs are coded on time and according to spec
– participating in user testing

Requirements:
– Strong user interface design skills, including typography, layout and color. Illustration skills a a plus.
– Expertise in Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML, CSS and Web standards. Knowledge of JavaScript, AJAX and Flash.
– Solid understanding of Web best practices and user centered design.
– Must have a strong portfolio containing examples of professional design work with an emphasis on web/software design.
– A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in the face of changing priorities and requirements.
– Excellent verbal and written skills.
– Experience in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
– Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
– At least 3 years of experience designing on the Web.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Art Director. Pronto.com is a shopping web site with over 12 million unique users per month and is a top ten fastest growing site on the web. Funded by IAC, we are located in the Frank Gehry-designed IAC Building in Chelsea.
