Web Developer
As the largest transportation provider in North America, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority delivers safe, reliable service to more than 1 billion customers each year. We are currently seeking a Web Developer.
As Web Developer, you will assist the Webmaster in all aspects of MTA website maintenance, working with staff and consultants to keep site current and standards- compliant, create pages, review and optimize code, and maintain position in search engines. In addition, you must use PHP, JavaScript, ColdFusion, CSS, XML, and other tools to create custom applications for the site.
Other responsibilities include: ensuring that MTA Web pages are standards-compliant and accessible; working with designers to convert print materials to web-ready materials; documenting all Website activities; debug, diagnose, and fix problems; and helping the Webmaster and Creative Services graphic designers put up pages that meet internal client needs and customer expectations.
To qualify, you must possess a College degree (or the equivalent) plus 1–3 years experience in Website design and programming. The ideal candidate will be able to program quickly and accurately, and prioritize projects intelligently, and make design and production decisions. You must be a flexible and self-motivated person, have good human relations skills in dealing with internal clients, outside contractors, and the general public and be a creative thinker with problem-solving skills and a genuine dedication to producing quality work. Knowledge of Web standards and Web accessibility issues and experience with Web tools, especially PHP, JavaScript, CSS, XML, and ColdFusion required.
