I have more than 10 years experience doing licensing and other intellectual property work. Among other things, I:
- negotiated and drafted many agreements involving
computer games (including publishing agreements,
engine licenses, shareware licenses, and agreements
providing for the exploitation of fictional characters)
during a time when the technology and related legal
issues were new;
- worked as General Counsel of a telecommunications
software company in New Jersey where I
negotiated and drafted all of their contracts,
including licenses to customers around the world;
and
- managed a long term, multiple title, multiple
country royalty audit which was successful and produced
over $3,000,000.
My Background also includes:
º Publishing Articles on copyright, online, and licensing issues, including in Miller Freeman's InterActivity Magazine.
º Speaking at conferences on legal issues, including at Game Developers' Conference, ONE BBSCON, the University of Texas School of Law's Computer Law Conference, and at Miller Freeman's Digital Video Conference.
º Working as an associate lawyer in the Wall Street law firm of Lord, Day & Lord (1984 1987).
º obtaining an LL.M. (post-JD graduate law degree) which involved study of intellectual property and antitrust law.
