really interesting concept, Allen. just thinking about other aggregation sites where traffic might be coming in from and Techmeme came to mind as well.

If you Google “Federated Media Blog” and then click on John Battelle’s Searchblog, you will see a box that welcomes you as a Google Searcher and mentions the search term you used to get there. It gets your attention and makes it somewhat personal, enough to make me read the rest of the box. Anything like this to make the user think you’re actually talking to them personally will help.

Great find Todd! When we think personalization – so many times we think of creating "my" type pages but we forget that just saying hello when you enter the store can mean so much more.

How about incoming links from external RSS feeds? I read this in Google Reader as it is included in Robert Scoble’s shared items and so I came in that way.
