		<description>.. I think you are right on as to the importance of usability as a factor going forward. Like you say, the two go hand in hand:

1) Keyword-centric linguistic analysis: Algorithms are essential here in order to sift through an index of billions of pages and discover the potential realm of results, and likely content matches.

2) Human quality analysis: Humans will always be a better gauge of subjective quality than computers because it is humans that are doing the actual reading. It hasn&#039;t been until recently that so many quantifiable signals of quality to do with social behavior (social bookmarking, technorati links, toolbar usage, etc) are becoming available to the major engines. As more social metrics become available, more will be used.

Right now I think search engines are more capable of using social metrics in some sets of queries, while more specific, technical queries are a little trickier.</description>
