WordHugger.com combines Internet marketing and promotion to allow web users to own a piece of the web
Members granted ability to micro invest in the website allowing them to purchase keywords and to advance their placement on various search engine while making money from advertisements.
October 2nd, 2007 – Internet users can now own a piece of virtual real estate by making a small, one time investment of merely $60, which promises to yield lucrative rewards for them in the future. WordHugger.com is a recently launched unique website which makes this Internet marketing strategy possible by way of its unmatched micro-investment operating system.
Now considered an effective marketing and promotional tool, members of WordHugger.com can easily purchase and secure a keyword of their choice (or multiple ones) with a minimum investment of $60 per word. These specifically chosen words can be associated with a member’s business, hobby or even line of expertise in any given field. In addition, the one time fee locks the member into WordHugger’s system for the next 10 years, guaranteed.
Even if a member is not computer savvy, their word page is easy to set up. Each comes with a word-associated page or domain name and allows the member to have free reign over every aspect of their page in terms of what they promote, sell or write on it. These keywords will attract advertising revenue generated from websites such as Google. There is no limit as to the amount of words that a user can purchase at WordHugger.com and members are free to resell their words at any time and at any price.
WordHugger.com is the brainchild of Collin LaHay, a 17 year old Minnesota high school student with a penchant for Internet entrepreneurship. LaHay is also known for his expertise in search engine optimization. WordHugger was born out of the idea for people to make thousands of dollars without an initial huge investment.
More than that, WordHugger.com is also able to assist entrepreneurs in current developing nations to achieve their goal of upgrading their business with the help of micro loans. These micro loans are distributed by KIVA, a non-profit organization that currently gets 50% of all the profits generated by WordHugger. The benefits of being a WordHugger member also include likely top position on popular search engines, which will in turn bring net traffic and eventually financial benefits to one’s business.

I like the idea.
It will be very interesting to watch and see how this does.
I might buy a couple words…
