nice collection but have you hear’d of window live writter. works with all bloggin platforms it totaly free. and that a bug secection of addon you can get. but im looking for somthing better again :( i dont think its here. thank you though! x

I, too, wanted a blogging editor for my blog collection. One difference is that I use Mac OSX exclusively. The other is that I finally gave up.

I tried MarsEdit, Ecto,ScribeFire and something else happily forgotten. ScribeFire, freeware for Firefox, came the closest to actually working with the ability – sort of – to upload images. In the end none worked well enough not to require following up their upload with some work back in the WP or Blogger dashboards. I decided it was easier to start with WP or Blogger and skip the 3d party editor even if they were prettier. It did not seem worthwhile to waste even more time searching, configuring and, finally, failing with any more. By the way, Ecto was the most useless so you are not alone.

I’ve tried a lot of blog editors – Microsoft Live Writer, Qumana, BlogJet, BlogDesk – but have stuck with Ecto for a long time. I’m not sure why you had problems during set-up but I found no issues when trying to configure new blogs – and I’ve got a few. :) Thanks for the round-up as I’m always on the look out for new WP tools.

Try Windows Live Writer. When I was using Windows, I preferred that client to ecto. On Mac, I’m loving MarsEdit (again over ecto).

I was curious if any of the tools supported inserting images. The main thing i have always disliked about WP editor is that it doesn’t have a good photo inserting function.

I would prefer to have an easier photo insert akin to the blogspot photo insert.

Any tips for this?
