Wrike Launches Enterprise Hosted Project Management Tool

wrikeProject management software provider Wrike has announced the launch of their enterprise version today. The biggest update in this new version is the ability to reschedule tasks easily by using task dependencies. This allows you to change a top task and all sub-tasks will follow suit. If you’ve worked with project management software, rescheduling can be a real pain.

Wrike’s enterprise version offers exporting and importing options into Microsoft Office applications. Wrike is priced at $15 per user with unlimited projects.

While Wrike compares themselves to Microsoft Office, I’d suggest a more accurate comparison is with other SaaS/hosted project management tools including Zoho Projects. Zoho Projects is capped at $80/month for unlimited projects and unlimited users. With Zoho offering a full office suite of tools, my initial take is based on looking at the suite and pricing, Zoho seems like a better choice. Though both tools offer robust solutions that appear more attractive than Microsoft Project.

We have switched from basecamp to Goalkeeper and I’m pretty happy. One of my team memebers recommended it and I tested it for a while and finally moved all my projects there. It’s different approach from all those clones and it’s very usable. But, I’ll definitely try your project manager to see if I can use it with microsoft office, this looks like pretty cool feature.

if their project management tool looks as poor/cluttered/uninviting as their website, i won’t sell this to my clients

As far as I see, Zoho offers a read-only timeline, while Wrike has released the dynamic gantt charts. Tasks can be linked and rescheduled on the chart. That needs to be tested, but I find this Wriks’ update very useful. BTW, I find zoho is less flexible than wrike

    Allen,
Thank you for your post! Besides the task dependencies feature the new version also includes MS Project integration that will make it easy and painless for MS Project users to transfer to Wrike.
@ Anonymous 1 – We’re working hard to make Wrike the best project management software. But we realize that there’s always room for improvement. We are open to changes, as soon as they are positive. Could you elaborate on your comment and give us some arguments?
@ Anonymous 2 – Thank you for noticing Wrike’s Dynamic Gantt chart feature. It is one of the features that make Wrike truly unique, our customers love it. Zoho is a good tool, but Wrike is giving your project management flexibility that is indispensible in multi-project environment.

@ daria – your site currently has too many styles. from round, yellow, green, sharp edges, soft, round. also, i’ve not seen a website in the last year that throws this much text at me on the homepage. I’d need a year to read through all of it. the “key features” on the right looks more like a tagcloud, but nothing really catches attention since everything is overwhelming. “wrike users” gets lost down there, move it up. make it light, easy and friendly. this is cluttered, uninviting and simply too much of everything.

forgot to say that the tool looks like a great thing – make your website reflect that.

@ Anonymous 1 – Thanks for your opinion, we will look into it. By the way, it would be nice to know your name, so that I knew whom I’m thanking :).

Recently I was evaluating various online project management softwares including Wrike. Although I liked Wrike’s simplicity and flexibility, especially creating tasks via email, I found that there is a scope for improvement, especially in scheduling and nice to know that now it accepts task dependencies as well. Keep it up. Our organization finally settled with
Celoxis tool, which has very sophisticated scheduling along with few other impressive features like resource utilization, calendar etc and cost us same as that of Wrike.

People may think wrike has too many features but it positions itself as an enterprise app. So you can’t really ding them for that. They are what they say they are. Another alternative for those needing something less featured is Intervals, a time tracking & task management app that also includes middleweight project management functionality.

I recommend one more good and simple team collaboration tool from QGSoftware. http://www.5pmweb.com is very simple and customizable web based project management tool. I like their time line.
