Yahoo CEO posts update

YahooYahoo! CEO, Terry Semel, posted a short time ago about some updates to search and search advertising at Yahoo!. It is easy to tell that the message is set to help boost confidence for shareholders, employees and web users that Yahoo! will make an impact in 2007. I hope so, we need you. A couple excerpts from Terry's post:

Advertisers will have more control over and visibility into their campaign performance, giving them greater confidence in (and potentially greater return on) their investment. It also means that the millions of consumers who come to Yahoo! to search for information on the Super Bowl, Lindsay Lohan or tax deductions will find text ads that are even more relevant to their searches. It’s a self-reinforcing cycle, a win-win for advertisers, publishers and consumers. And we hope for our shareholders, too.

I think we will start to see CEOs create blogs to try to get closer to their customers and shareholders. My bet is that the companies who are in trouble or perceived to be in trouble will make the move first to attempt to boost confidence. I like that Terry is allowing comments on his post and hope as people comment, he will reply and create a real dialogue instead of using the blog as a new press release.
