Google continues to maintain the dominating lead they've had for a long time now and show little sign of that changing in the near term. Google focuses very well on search and only uses the other services to drive more search traffic - Yahoo on the other hand seems(ed) to focus on all the little pieces and the content strategy rather than search. Microsoft - has a lot of smart people too; I'm sure they will give Google a challenge in the next five.

This shows that Yahoo can't fill their ad inventory - it shows Google as the winner period. Yahoo will never be able to come out from under this deal - in my opinion it's a bad deal for Yahoo - makes them look very, very weak.

you got that right - employee morale can't be high - especially in the ad dept - who wants to work on a team that has now just outsourced to their main rival - it's like saying "sorry guys you cant do it so we give it to our rival" - it's disappointing!

This is just the first step in Yahoo's complete outsourcing of the ad and search service to Google. I expect within the next year we will see Yahoo abandon both of these areas and focus on their content, games, and community services. Search and ads are a distraction from their core and Yang has to do some serious catchup if he is going to keep his job after snubbing Microsoft.
