Another Exec Leaves Yahoo; Has Facebook Replaced Yahoo in the Big 3?

YahooJust what is going on at Yahoo? Execs are leaving in bits with the latest being VP of Sales Strategy Jacki Kelley, Kara Swisher reports. Which way is better to pull off a band-aid? Quick with one sharp pain, or taking your time with lots of smaller pains? Yahoo needs the quick version so they can get on track. Last week I wrote about morale with the Google departures and that plays even higher at Yahoo.

This was a three-dog race with Google, Yahoo and Microsoft. Today I would say Yahoo is out and has been replaced with Facebook. And I still stand firm that Yahoo acquiring AOL would be beneficial for both companies. Maybe it’s time for Yahoo to move out of California and start over here in NYC?

Side note: I have been testing Yahoo Publisher Network here on CN the past week. The click-rate and the earnings have been less than 4% of what Google AdSense provided (which wasn’t much in itself). More importantly, the ads haven’t been targeted to CN whatsoever. So goodbye Yahoo Publisher Network, come talk to me when you can provide ads that do (at least) as well as Google AdSense.

alan, do you have a short position on yhoo? cause you are waaay off base here.

jackie was loyal to wenda, who originally hired her in the NYC office and told her only 1x trip per month to sunnyvale. the last 3-4 months have been 3 out of 4 weeks to sunnyvale. jackie has a 5 y/o kid at home. wenda waved a BIG carrot in front of jackie. if you were jackie, what would you do? makes perfect sense to me.

I assume you mean me, Allen. I saw your comment on VW as well earlier today.  The truth about morale with regards to execs leaving a firm really has nothing to do with the reason.  When execs take their golden parachutes, employees begin to worry.

I appreciate your reasoning as to why she left. NYC has better pizza also.

When Facebook starts making BILLIONS in revenue each quater and Yahoo stops making billions then you can say facebook has replaced yahoo.

And Myspace is still much bigger than Facebook as well. Let alone the other many online companies that are still bigger than facebook in unique visitors and revenue.

Are you joking me? Who the hell writes these articles? Facebook replaced Yahoo… Are you insane… do you have any idea what Yahoo’s market capital is? Just because MicroHard threw in a few millions into facebook, does not imply its replacing yahoo. Facebook is definately NOT worth all the quotes you see online. When it sells for 15Billion (B????) we will think about it replacing yahoo.

Please stop making stupid speculations completely irrelevant to todays market. These are idiotic diggs. Common sense appears to be not so common after all.

Even myspace is bigger than facebook, and yahoo has a working earning model in place.

This article is the weakest by far. Where are the figures and the stats? Man, why is it even on digg? Yahoo is acres ahead of Facebook. Let’s not crack up as yet.
