YouTube Down – March 25
As of about 7am Eastern time this morning, YouTube went into “Http/1.1 Service Unavailable” mode. In our testing, embedded videos appear to be working a-ok.
There’s a bunch of chatter about the outage over on Twitter. In fact questions about YouTube’s outage are coming in so quickly that the instant you hit submit, there are already a batch more in the search queue!
One Twitter user noted, “I’m going to die without YouTube ):”
I understand there are several people visiting local hospitals because they are unable to watch the latest cat videos. People, please remain calm during this unfortunate time.
As always, please report in if YouTube is down for you as well.
Update 7:13am – the current error message shows a 500 Internal Service Error.

The reason youtube is down in the UAE is due to the submarine cable (under water) being
cut . Etisalat is on with rectifying this incident as soon as possible.
Will take another week or so. By May the site would be up and running.

Going to my subs gives me an error, as well as when i tired to go to another’s channel; but their vids work. Just google what you want then click the link to get to a functional yt page, then search what you like.

YouTube is still serving video. I just loaded up a video that I had bookmarked and it works fine. From there I can search for and play other videos. (I cleared my cache too, so it’s not just that the content was cached from last visit).
For me, the only thing down is the main page, subscription pages, user pages, and video management pages, which read: “Http/1.1 Service Unavailable”

Apparently the increased productivity of office workers being unable to watch YouTube videos will pull us out of the current recession with in 12 hours. As hard as it is not to constantly listen to YT we have to make the sacrifice for the greater good.

Yes Youtube is unavailable today but as you say you live in East same as me, maybe this problem appears in the east part of Earth
This seems to be with the main page only. I was able to bring up an older video and was able to use youtube as I normally would by running my searches from there.
Need my fix of cute fluffy cat videos. Can’t get on YouTube. Can’t go on living.
Tried going in through video.google.com, and it’s redirected me to a fully functional youtube page. Looks like it’s only going to “www.youtube.com” or “youtube.com” that throws the error?
youtube in New zealand also down. Was watching videos around 12:00am 26th march local time. boom. off air!

The main page is down but I am able to get on by using a bookmarked link.
once there, then I am able to search and play other videos as long as I stay away from the youtube mainpage, it works.
my link that works is

or you can look thru your bookmarks/favorites for something that you already have.
