YouTube Down for Maintenance
YouTube is currently down for maintenance – over the past 2-3 hours, our testing shows the service up and down. There are a bunch of people posting messages on Twitter with their sad smiley faces because they can’t watch the latest cat video or the latest wedding video. Our sources tell us that the service is down because they are adding “UCM” – ultra cat mode.
While the service is down, please consider cleaning your house, washing your car, taking a walk outside (gasp!), visiting a new startup, reading a book, etc. Check out our YouTube down section for previous outages.
Interestingly, the “down for maintenance” page (as seen below) includes a search box. The search works but any video you select displays the same down for maintenance page – it’s an endless loop! As always please report in if YouTube is down where you are located.

It’s down here on the East Coast. Funny- searching “YouTube Maintenance” in Google and clicking on the second
(excuse me, I accidentally hit the ‘Submit comment’ button. ^^;)
…and clicking on the second link will take you to a fully-functional video; try to go to YouTube.com, and you get the maintenance message. Anyone else confused?
Down in MountainTime USA. For you critics, I for one rarely have time to enjoy a few vintage misuc video clips on youtube. Frustrating that it is down on a Friday evening.

maybe its making a greener site but they could make a copy of the site to post when they do this

davey forgets that at one point, a pen and paper (or even a quill and ink) were at one point the height of technology – yet writing is somehow considered more “HUMAN” than using a computer. talk about “dumbing down humanity”…
Davey, be nice. Many of us do have lives and do have jobs. I for one HAVE FAMILY OVER, and was trying to share videos with my real life family–after I took their kids to the playground and ran around with them for almost two hours. Thanks for being a jerk.

I live in London, and i’ve got the exact same problem. Sometimes i try to check videos and it works, but there are also times, when they are down for maintenance.
I never want to see YouTube again unless we get rid of the maintenance forever!!!!!!!
I was just watching a video and suddenly it refreshed and it gave the down for maintance page, around 20:35 GMT (london)

you could always get off your behinds and get a life – when was the last time any of you came out of your bedrooms and spoke to someone for more than 5 minutes, or even wrote a letter – assuming you can write, not just type…. conversation, literacy, socialising – it ain’t technological, it’s called being HUMAN, not part of a worldwide machine dumbing down humanity.

It’s been down since a few hours… I’m browsing in Germany. But it’s not entirely down, some videos can be played, also some youtube videos can be played from google video, but at the same time not opened from youtube… strange!
Down in Germany as well… at least “Empire Strikes Back” is on TV.
