YouTube’s new features
Guess what folks, YouTube finally decided to change up a few things, and add a feature or two. First off they decided to style things a little bit. Then they also decided to let their TestTube project loose to the public.
YouTube had a slight, and subtle redesign, the other day. The tabs are now a little more colorful, with blue gradients, and there are a few extra gradients hanging around the site. That’s really all I’ve noticed as far as design changes go. Looks better than it did before, if you ask me.
Besides that, they have decided to release their new baby, dubbed TestTube. TestTube is a pretty cool project, it allows you to ‘stream’ videos with other people. It’s kind of confusing, but it works. The interface, can be customized by the person who starts the stream, meaning some of these can get ugly folks! I’m talkin’ Myspace ugly.
When they say stream, they mean, you can get into a flash chatroom, and add links to other youtube videos, and talk about them. I wouldn’t really call that streaming, I would say it’s more like some kind of sharing. The cool thing about it is, that when you add a link, the video will pop right up into the window, for everyone else to see.
So if you have some extra time, head on over to http://youtube.com/streams_main. Give it a shot and have some fun. If you’re looking for a little bit on how things work, try going here, it explains things pretty well.
Oh, and here are a few screenshots, just to give you an idea of what the interface looks like.
