Zoho Launches Zoho DB – It’s Like Access Only Better
Zoho has launched Zoho DB today bringing the total number of online office applications they offer to just under 15. The easiest way to describe Zoho DB is that it’s an online version of Microsoft Access with more features. I played with the tool for a bit yesterday and found it to be robust and responsive. My data security concerns will always exist with any online app but Zoho continues to provide strong security procedures which you can learn more about in the interview I conducted with Raju Vegesna earlier this year.
Richard from ReadWriteWeb highlights the main features in Zoho DB:
- Converts spreadsheets into online databases (with CSV and TSV imports)
- Create reports, charts and pivot tables with drag-n-drop functionality
- Pivot Table Support
- Allows you to run SQL (select) Queries on the data. You can run any select query in any SQL format (they support Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Sybase, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Informix and ANSI SQL dialects).
I will have more thoughts on the tool later but I can’t post in-flight so until then check out their demo video which is a bit long at 12 minutes but goes into great detail about the new Zoho DB application. Check out Zoho DB product overviews from Mark and Richard.

Editor’s note: Zoho is a current CN sponsor and while we were asked to hold posting was to be live at 9am, it appeared on TC earlier this morning so I believe it’s safe to post now.
